An Optimistic Assessment of COVID-19
This blog's author has done very nice modeling of COVID-19 on a Country basis. We have known and read David Merkel for more than 20-years. He is a statistician and has been an actuary and a bond trader and manager of bond departments for insurance companies. His analysis is very similar to what your state health department uses and what the CDC uses to model epidemic progression in a population. Highly recommended reading.

Walz: 80% Of Minnesotans May Get Coronavirus, Shelter In Place ‘Probable’
We think this is an important story. We are not sure the Governor meant what he said. There are two ways to take this message. One is that he was referring to Angela Merkle's and Boris Johnson's assessment of a couple of weeks ago. Or, on the other hand, that he is going with a laissez-faire strategy, not do very much, let people become sick until the point of herd immunity which is in the 60% to 80% range. Both Angela Merkel and Boris were roundly criticized by their countryman and woman as they understood what that meant. This is why Boris Johnson changed his tune. He was accused of not fighting this virus and waiting until it ran its course. You should also note that the South Koreans did not close much up but used testing to ferret out who was sick and the shops and restaurants remained open.

This is a telling story. This Doctor is worried about incidental travelers' re-kindling epidemic. We think they have very few travelers now so tracking them should not be a problem. We think that this is a propaganda set-up because they really have not gotten all of the problems solved and are going to have to start reporting new infections eventually. So this set-up is who to blame for the next round. It is just our conjecture at this point but time will tell.

Our comments; they would not be doing this unless people were buying. Additionally, people would not be buying if the didn't think it would work. Another global supply chain shortened.
"The drug had been in short supply earlier in March, according to news reports, but Mylan and another generic drug firm, Israel-based Teva, are both ramping up production."
Two Reasons the Worst-Case Scenarios for COVID-19 Seem Unrealistic
We think this is an important story for its sense of perspective. The take away is it probably not as bad as the media wants you to believe. Remember that the media sells airtime, so a good crisis is money in their pocket.
The mortality rate is much lower than the official numbers suggest, and adaptive behavior affects the transmission rate.
This Coronavirus Patient Dodged A Bullet With Hydroxychloroquine. Is She A Harbinger Or Outlier?
The word is getting out about this course of treatment. Thanks, Forbes. "Novins had been a pneumonia patient for three days, treated mainly with antibiotics. But within an hour, a new drug was added to her med list: hydroxychloroquine, a decades-old malaria-turned-autoimmune drug, also called by its brand name Plaquenil. Novins’ responded to the treatment. She was better, though surely not well, the next day."
