The crisis now will hit the politicians and political Doctor Faucis who gullibly accepted and trumpeted what statistician William Briggs calls “the most colossal and costly blown forecast of all time.”

We think this is an important story for its sense of perspective. The take away is it probably not as bad as the media wants you to believe. Remember that the media sells airtime, so a good crisis is money in their pocket.

The mortality rate is much lower than the official numbers suggest, and adaptive behavior affects the transmission rate.
