“Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz is proposing a new budget package that includes $700 million worth of direct payments to Minnesotans called “Walz Checks.”  But Minnesota Republicans are blasting the checks as a distraction, an “election-year gimmick,” and something that’s no longer good policy.”

Tim Walz’s re-election efforts failed to cite or mention any reference to Walz’s most glaring failure as governor: his refusal to exercise his powers as Commander-in-Chief of the Minnesota National Guard to call them out immediately following the tragic death of George Floyd on May 25, 2020.”

"Minnesota Governor Tim Walz ordered a widespread shutdown of normal life on March 25, effective (11:59 p.m.) March 27. In his remarks explaining the order, he premised his order on 74,000 projected deaths from COVID-19. Last week we learned that, if the order worked out as hoped, it would save 24,000 lives. We have yet to see the model. Maybe someday he’ll let us in on the secret."
