Karen Attia was a critical care nurse for over 30 years and she will bring that same caring spirit with her to St. Paul when elected in November. She has had a lifelong passion for helping people and that will be essential since the people of Minnesota need help to deal with rising crime, inflation, and poor schools. "Since 2020, we have been living with sky rocketing crime rates including murder, robbery, carjacking and now, added to the list, "smash & grab looting! Why? With our state leaders' lack of action when our metro was being overrun by "mostly peaceful protesters" a precedent was set. We are seeing blatant disregard for our laws as a result. When offenders are not held accountable, they learn quickly they can do it again! Added to that has been the movement to defund the police or re-imagine policing. Change must happen! The primary role of government is assuring safety to its citizens. I stand in strong support of our law enforcement and have utmost respect for them. They work 24-7 to keep us safe and they are very deserving of our gratitude. With our communities being the outer rung of the Metro, sadly, we are living with increasing fear, wondering "will I be the next victim?" This must stop.

"The US Constitution limits government powers by a set of established limits on each of the 3 branches thus providing assurance of security & personal freedoms to its citizens. This relieves the fear of being ruled by one person or body. Do you feel our freedoms slipping away? What about mandates or is your speech censored? These things are counter to what our founding documents declare! Government is controlling more and more of our lives. As Americans, that can't continue! KAREN ATTIA SUPPORTS INDIVIDUAL FREEDOM & LIBERTY

"As I think of what that means and where we, as Americans, get those freedoms, I refer first to our founding documents which framed our rights and freedoms over 200 years ago. The Declaration of Independence states, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.” To further understand what those freedoms are, we look at the Amendments to our Constitution, commonly known as the Bill of Rights. Specifically, I see we are losing our freedom of speech, religion, and the right to peaceably assemble. Freedom of speech gives us the right to communicate opinions and ideas without fear of retaliation, censorship or legal sanction. That is being severely hampered on college campuses, schools, the press and social media. The following quote is very sobering, “If our freedom of speech is taken away, then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter”, by George Washington. We need to stand up for our rights and freedoms, or they will be taken from us.

Medical Freedom and Parental rights must be upheld. I stand firmly in support of these two most recently attacked freedoms!

My father was a real Ronald Reagan fan. This is a favorite quote by our former President, "Freedom is never more than one generation from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it was once like in the United States where men were free." KAREN ATTIA WILL LOWER TAXES

"Lots has happened since I campaigned in 2020. At that time, we anticipated a major deficit in our State, however, with the infusion of money from the Federal government, we endured through the worst of Covid-19. Thankfully, a tax hike was avoided in the 2021 budget negotiations, however, our overall operating budget is now the largest in our history. What about limited government and what does balancing the budget really mean? This is a serious question that cannot be ignored. I passionately believe our state government needs to address spending. As I look at data, I have found that Minnesota ranks as the 5th highest taxed state in the nation. That's not a category to be proud of. Free enterprise & entrepreneurship is being suppressed as the tax and regulations grow. This is not a recipe for growing our economy.

We are increasingly feeling the effects of inflation with the rising cost of gas, food and fees for everyday essentials. You have a right to work hard, put food on the table and have something left over for the family every month! Now, with the announcement of a 2022 projected state surplus of $9.2 Billion, it is time for income tax reform! This is the largest surplus in our state's history! It is very clear that we are being overtaxed.
